Garth Sundem signing books

AURORA, Colo. – “Today’s top scientists teach you how to do everything better” is the message behind Garth Sundem’s new book “Brain Trust.”

Sundem said he was inspired to write “Brain Trust” when he reached his 30s, and he realized there were things he was good at but many more things that he was not so great at. So, he decided to find someone who studied those areas and did them well and so he could learn from them.

The majority of people who strolled through the book signing this week at the Anschutz Medical Campus Bookstore in Building 500 were faculty who were also interested in learning how to better themselves in their weaker areas.

For Sundem’s latest work, “I interviewed 130 scientists for this book,” Sundem said. “That’s one a day for six months, it was exhausting.”

His earlier works, also published by Random House, include: “Brain Candy” and “The Geeks’ Guide to World Domination.”

Apart from being an author, Sundem also works on the Anschutz Medical Campus as a science writer in the CU Cancer Center.

“So my work involves helping others get their works published.”

He said he is already is thinking about his next book which will be about ‘intelligence defined’.
