The event offers families a chance to be together on Valentine’s Day, while also supporting a good cause. The money raised supports various programs at the hospital, and this year’s beneficiaries are the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery. Medical teams in these areas treat a range of conditions, including Alzheimer’s disease, brain tumors, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease and stroke.
Recently, we followed along as neurosurgeon Kevin Lillehei, MD, treated a young girl from China suffering from a brain tumor. Doctors had told her the surgery could lead to lasting disfigurement. See more in the video documenting the different approach Lillehei offered.
